Caterpillars, Gladstone, NJ 05/22/2008
Watching caterpillars on the wall of a barn that is next to the playground are Leah Mack, Maelle Rosser, Sofi Ayling and Skyler Mack. Five families seeking a holistic-approach to early education in what they consider a high-pressure academic environment have started their own private school in a Methodist church in Gladstone. With 13 children enrolled in the K-2 school, the state-licensed school plans to add a grade each year. Private tuition runs $6,600 a year and the school is seeking more students. The parents who run the school come from writing, film and other creative industries.
